ABOUT PHTRC
The Palestinian Hospitality and Tourism Resource Center
The Palestinian Hospitality and Tourism Resource Center (PHTRC) aims to serve Palestinian tourism professionals by connecting them with academic and professional development resources and tools. As the first AHA branch offices in Palestine, PHTRC was equipped with how-to resources, such as training videos and manuals, textbooks, internationally-recognized certification programs and tourism industry publications. The center also houses a comprehensive, customized database for the hotel industry in Palestine and offers business support services to members.
The PHTRC was established in October 2003 at the Bethlehem University’s Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism through a Memorandum of Understanding with the Arab Hotel Association (AHA). This strategic initiative established a training and resource center serving the Palestinian hospitality sector as well as the greater tourism sector.
Under the management of the AHA, the Center’s main functions include academic and professional training in addition to information services. This dynamic alliance between the AHA and Bethlehem University is the foundation for cooperation between the private sector and the leading tourism and hospitality educational institutes locally, regionally and internationally.
The center has recently entered into an important new agreement with the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Institute (EI-AHLA), whereby the PHTRC is now an authorized provider of many EI-AHLA programs and services. The center is equipped with the necessary resources to successfully implement its vision of providing market responsive demand driven training and support to the Palestinian tourism workforce. |
